Reghez Canyon
After springing from the Earth, streams of water make kilometers-long adventures along their journeys. One such adventure is Tangeh Reghez, 30 kilometers away from Darab, southeast of Shiraz. Originating from the Reghez spring, the river twists and turns its way through the Reghez canyon, and flows in 64 waterfalls along a four kilometers long canyon. Ghez literally means unspoiled and slippery, an adjective that is attributed to the canyon which is encircled with smooth high-rising walls.
The shortest and longest waterfalls range in height from 4 meters to 65 meters respectively, and the depth of the pools at their bottom range from 6 to 20 meters. The area offers exciting opportunities for canyoning, provided that you are equipped. It is possible to descend twelve waterfalls with ropes, and enjoy the rest by jumping. Beautiful as it is, this canyon can pose dangers to adventure hunters. Although it is important to know swimming, and have suitable physical skills, make sure you carry a life jacket.
In order to reach the canyon, you should get to Darab town in Fars Province. The Shiraz-Darab road will take you to the Darakuye mountain pass. From there, you should go down a dust road, which after two hours reaches the Yadak spring. This is where the trekking through rocks leading to the Reghez spring starts.
